All the food is different in China. Finding decent snacks before a hike or bus ride is not exactly easy. Large supermarkets are seldom seen because there are small convenience stores everywhere. When I do find things like raisins or peanuts they’re usually expensive. There is no shortage of meat or seafood snacks like chicken feet or dried fish but I can’t make out what many of the snacks are really made of or what flavoring is on them so I instead gravitate towards the fruitier looking or chocolate and puffy variety snacks.
Fortunately, there is an abundance of fruit markets in China. You can find fruit in most shops or on street corners in some cities or other areas with a lot of foot traffic. You can often just follow your nose towards that all too familiar waft of Durian fruit. Some fruit I had never tasted before and some others I didn’t know existed until now but all of it has been very flavorful.
